Race for Glory in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe NPUK Cup Tournament

Written by Leon Fletcher

Racing season is nearly upon us, so get ready to burn some rubber as we boost into the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe NPUK Cup this Spring; our very first tournament of 2021! The countdown to find out NPUK’s best team of drivers begins on Saturday 8th May in this highly exhilarating competition.

The group stage consists of four Grand Prix, with different players from each NPUK community team competing for points across 8-races each week. The best performing teams will then drift their way to the finals, edging closer to glory. This will then be followed by the knockout stage.

The team with the most points at the end will then be crowned Mario Kart 8 Deluxe NPUK Cup Champion. Not only will they obtain the glory, but they’ll also win prestigious medals and £10 eShop Vouchers to mark their victory.

Interested? Signups are now open and will close at 12pm on Sunday 2nd May. It is important to remember that there can be only one team per community and there is a minimum of two players per team with a maximum of four. Please discuss creating a team with your local community founders.

  • Each player MUST take a screenshot of each race’s results screen (both the race and overall) in order for the TO to verify the results

Connectivity Issues

  • Whilst this isn’t possible for everyone, we recommend players use a Wired Internet Connection to avoid connectivity issues.

  • Players should save a screenshot of the results screen after every race, as proof of your points total should you, or another player, disconnect.

  • Disconnections / Lag: Any player who disconnects, or feels their race has been severely hampered by significant lag should immediately alert a T.O and provide the following proof:

    •  Video proof of the disconnection / significant lag is provided to a T.O, and the request for a rerun accepted.

    • Proof that the disconnection/issues occurred prior to the start of the 2nd Lap

  • The race in which the disruption occurred should continue on as normal. At the end of the race, the T.O should instruct all participants to exit the Tournament and await rejoin instructions.

  • The T.O will then review the evidence submitted by the affected player(s) and rule as to whether the result should stand, or the race be rerun.

  • Due to the nature of track selection in Tournament mode, it may not be possible to rerun the race on the same track as before.

  • A player retains all points earned in completed races prior to the disconnection.

  • A player may only submit one race rerun request per Grand Prix.
