Returning to the ring for the third time!
I’d been consistent with my fitness for the best part of 5 years, but due to sleep deprivation I’d fallen off my routines by September 2024, so was starting to feel the lower energy all round. When the opportunity to review Fitness Boxing 3 came up, I grabbed it as my chance to get my fitness routine back again!

I collect fitness games, and have done for several years, but I did eventually tire of my life changing game (Ring fit Adventure) so Fitness Boxing 3 was just what I needed to get me moving again.
I vary my fitness activities a bit more these days, mixing the week up with walks, a parkrun, yoga and my fitness game of choice.
Since its release in early December, the fitness game has been solely Fitness Boxing 3. My goal is to play it at least 3 times a week, and so far I’ve just about managed to do it between work, being a parent and other commitments!

Obviously if you’ve ever played any of the Fitness Boxing series, you’ll be familiar with the concept.
It’s basically rhythm boxing, but this edition also features “Sit Fit boxing” for those who need to be seated to exercise; as well as Mitt Drills (easy, medium, hard).
A brand new feature that I’ve enjoyed is also the “Box and Bond” sessions. There’s 5 of these, and my instructor has a chat about something to do with habits/consistency/enjoyment of exercise and then challenges you to a “Custom” workout with them.

You have the “daily workout” which is the automatic setup. You can access this straight away by “quick workout” on the home screen, or progress to the “lounge” for more options.
Of course, all the individual sessions are listed separately, and a lot of them are locked when you start out. It does tell you when you hover over them, what you need to complete to unlock them which helps.
I stuck with the default instructor, Lin, just because she was most like the instructor I used in previous games of the series.

I like the fact that in this edition, she changes her own outfits seemingly when she feels like it!
I loved the Christmas headband, and the New Year hat she donned, then the first week of January, she changed her whole outfit to one I hadn’t yet seen in the shop.

The mechanics of the game are much the same as the previous versions. They still haven’t fixed the lagging footprint if the game is trying to do multiple things. It does stay in time at least, but I’m pretty sure it’s not expecting you to stand on one foot for a few seconds while it catches up! At the end of a session it gives you an estimated fitness age. I’m usually given 18 years old – I’ll take that!

I like the music in this one. It’s more generic/non descript dance/synth type music, which means I’m not trying to sing along or find the words to songs I know. You can also tweak the tracks to your preferred ones if you choose to, as it has a confirmation window before you actually start the workout.
I also like (when I have time) that my instructor always offers me an extra sped up version at the end of the intended programme. Having the high speed bit at the end enables me to feel more like I’ve had a proper workout, whereas the rest of the programme is fairly chilled to me. (The towel she suggests definitely is unnecessary!)
We managed to try the 2 player mode in our recent event too. A young girl wanted to challenge me and, fair play, she didn’t do too badly on scores! It’s a split screen experience where you try and get the best score. Simple duel logistics. It gives you your fitness age at the end – we had to laugh when I got 21 and she got 42 though! I did a second round with her dad too, that was a bit more fair!

Verdict
In conclusion, if you want a bit of motivation to get active again, this is worth a look. You get a stamp for every daily workout you complete, and the instructors are there to encourage you, even if i was slightly amused that there’s a “kindness” toggle!
