SPUK: Please tell us a bit about yourself, including how you first came to play Nintendo games…
AC: When I was very young and my Nannan used to look after my brother and me on weekends, we would spend all day playing Super Mario Bros. 1,2 and 3, along with the occasional spot of duck hunt. She missed many an episode of Emmerdale Farm on those weekends!
SPUK: You seem to be quite the traveller, what StreetPass Events have you attended, and how far have you travelled to attend the furthest one?
AC:I travelled 120 miles to go to a Newcastle event one Sunday! Took about 2 hours each way, but well worth it just for the Kid Icarus cards I got to trade!
SPUK: What is it about the meets that attracts you into travelling so far?
AC:There is just nothing like Streetpass out there, and the way some games use it is just work seeking out. In the small town that I am from I am lucky to get 1 in a month. However, now that I have been to them my favourite part is meeting like-minded people. A lot of my friends aren’t really into games so I never get the chance to just sit around and chat about games.
SPUK: You’ve just set up your own group as well, haven’t you? Tell us a little bit about your intentions, hoping to kick-start a Tekken 3D Prime resurgence from your hometown?
AC:No no, my main focus is definitely to have a huge tournament focused on Steel Diver’s Steel Commander local multiplayer mode along with some Splash or Crash high
score chasing… Jokes aside, I just want everything that the other groups have, but closer. 9 members so far and hoping word will spread (you can find Andrew’s group, StreetPass BReWDS, by clicking here).
SPUK: Let’s focus on the 3DS for a bit… What’s your Favourite 3DS game?
AC:It will have to be Kid Icarus Uprising. I just love the gameplay the plot and that twist. At the end of chapter 9 when I was already feeling satisfied with what the game had offered…my mind was blown!
SPUK: What do you love about StreetPass?
AC:The green light. Just knowing i’m not the only one who has mine on me in the strangest of places makes me happy.
SPUK: Which game, do you feel, has the most interesting use of StreetPass?
AC:Dillon’s Rolling Western: The Last Ranger has a very interesting way of using it. Sharing strategies with the people you pass is pretty cool, however Animal Crossing’s Streetpass is probably the most useful!
SPUK: Are there any games with StreetPass features that you wish more people played? We’re worried it will take forever to tag anyone with Etrian Odyssey IV…
AC:Well I have never Streetpassed a Freakyforms user, but I have Streetpassed some Splash or Crash users surprisingly. I do wish more people Streetpassed me with the Mario and Sonic Virtual Card Album though. I’ve never played any of those games, the Olympics ones, and I think the app itself is somewhat pointless… But I just want them all!
SPUK: What upcoming 3DS game are you most looking forward to?
AC:A new Petz game…oh wait…most looking forward to? It is probably Inazuma Eleven 3, but there is also the final Layton game too. Normally I can wait between Layton games, but the story got so good at the end of the last one I want to see the end!
SPUK: Ok, let’s broaden things. What’s your Favourite Nintendo game of all time?
AC:Xenoblade Chronicles. After 26 years of playing Nintendo games this modern beauty just swooped in and knocked everything else down a rank!
SPUK: And your absolute Favourite Nintendo series?
AC:This is too hard! It could be Rhythm Paradise. The recent Wii game was a blast! But I love Inazuma eleven too… Golden Sun… Zelda… Kirby… Smash Bros… This is too hard! Err, screw it, I’m just gonna say Make 10: A journey of numbers!
SPUK: Speaking of your Nintendo passions, we believe you might have done something with your spare room?
AC:Yes I decorated my spare bedroom in Nintendo red and Wii white so that I could display all my games, figures, books memorabilia, freebies, everything Nintendo really…as well as the 5 Phoenix Wright games. It is called the Nintendo Room which a little hanging sign dictates on the outside of the door!
SPUK: Of all the things in your museum, what’s your most prized possession?
AC:It would have to be my copy of the Monado Archives! A great artbook with all things Xenoblade inside. I do like my Mario Kart trophies I got from winning a Mario Kart 7 tournament at Comic-con though.
SPUK: And finally, what’s the one game – be it a dream sequel or funky spin off – that you’d sell your left pinky to see Nintendo create?
AC:I think a game that incorporated all the play styles of all Nintendo series would bge good. Like an ultimate crossover. Like one minute you are platforming in Mushroom Kingdom, when you have a Punch-out!! with Ganondorf, but suddenly he speeds off in an F-zero ship so you give chase on a Loftwing and so on with a great plot. Similar to smash bros. Subspace emissary, but with all different playstyles and characters. Failing this sequels to story heavy games would be nice. I would give any number of toes to see Golden Sun 4, Disaster Day of Crisis 2, Battalion Wars 3, Pikmin 4, Another Code 3. Cing may have gone bust, but I want more from Ashley Mizuki Robins!
